Cell Phone Super Star

Hello All,

We apologize for not updating in a while. It has been a very busy May. It is the end of school. Therefore, there are many programs, banquets, actitivies, parties, and graduations. We have not had a moment of peace. But it's ok. We love being with and celebrating with the ones we care for.

In the midst of our chaos, Kevin has been selected to be one of the TOP TEN FINALISTS for Cell Phone Super Star on the JOY FM. It is a Christian Radio station in the Tampa Bay area. They have a program where you can register to sing on the air over your cell phone. This week was the qualifying round. Kevin's name happened to be picked. So the afternoon DJ called up Kevin on his way home from work. Kevin had to sing any song that came to his head. (he had already pre-planned that he would sing My Girl if he was called). So...driving home on Bloomingdale Avenue in Brandon, Kevin sang My Girl. I was able to hear it, because I was listening on my radio in my car as I got home from work. It was great.

This evening he got a call that he was in the TOP. He has to sing two songs this week (one Disney Song and one hymn). He has to be ready at any time to answer his cell phone and sing!!!

If he makes it to the final two, they allow the listeners to vote on the winner. The radio station staff picks the finalists up to the Top 2.

We'll keep you updated. It's certainly fun to get to the Top 10 even if he doesn't make it any further.

Kevin' Music

I know many of you ask where you can hear some of Kevin's music. He has a Myspace Music Page that he updates rarely with new music. He has just posted some stuff that he recorded on the fly this week in our church auditorium.

ENJOY!

Stealing Pieces

Kevin and I have had the opportunity to volunteer with ALS Association in the public awareness campaign, STEALING PIECES. We are fighting to find a cure for this dreaded disease which took my Pap's life in 1999. My sister, Kamden, works as the Public Relations Coordinator at the Association. She has been incredibly instrumental in spear-heading this campaign which includes, television commercials, billboard ads, and a travel memorial display.

The ALS Association’s Florida Chapter invites you to experience our Piece By Piece tribute display, which is dedicated to those whose lives have been taken by this dreaded disease. The exhibit features hundreds of mannequins, each shrouded with individual epitaphs, symbolizing a fellow Floridian whose life has been stolen from their loved ones. Its purpose is both to pay tribute and evoke personal reflection on the devastating number of those currently suffering. We hope you will share this powerful experience with us.

Please visit the website below to view a version of one of the TV ads and to see when the tribute display will be close to you.

The shirts are dedicated in memory of people who have passed away from ALS or who are currently living with disease.
This our way of paying tribute to those who are and were suffering with ALS. It is sombering to walk in between these mannequins each representing a human life.

We want a cure.

THE EDGE Student Minsitries

For the last 4 years, we have been a part of one of the most amazing youth groups in history. Ok! We are a little partial. But honestly, we are blessed to work with these great kids that drive us to edge of our sanity. Maybe that is why the name of the youth group is THE EDGE!!!

Kevin is the worship leader and has a blast jamming out with Michael and Garrett. I also love my small group girls. It's so cool to spend time with them. Kamden and Mitch do a great job as the youth pastor and his wife, and God is doing amazing things in these kids.

We're taking a mission trip this summer in July with the youth group, and we covet all of your prayers. We needs to raise $12,000. We are almost half way to our goal, and we are confident God will provide the rest.

Here are some pictures that documents our big adventure in ministry:

Hope playing on the keyboard in our cool new youth room. Don't you love the stripes? We have an awesome new youth room in the newly built rooms in the gym. We're going to be build a coffee shop in here, too.

Everybody trickling in on a Wednesday night. We normally have about 60 youth and 5 leaders.
